Legacy Application Modernisation
Many businesses are running on software that was written years or even decades ago. It still
works — but it costs more to maintain, limits what the business can do, and carries increasing
risk as the platforms it depends on reach end of life. We undertake this kind of work:
assessing what you have, extracting what matters, and rebuilding or migrating it into a
modern, supportable form.
Data migration
Old systems often hold years of valuable business data in formats or database engines that
are no longer practical — Access databases, legacy SQL Server versions, flat files, or
proprietary formats tied to applications that no longer run. We extract, clean, and migrate
that data into modern SQL Server, Azure SQL, or Cosmos DB, preserving its integrity and
making it available to new applications.
- Migration from Microsoft Access, older SQL Server versions, and flat files
- Data cleansing and normalisation during migration
- Zero data loss validation before cutover
- Staged migration to minimise business disruption
Code modernisation
Older codebases in VB6, classic ASP, or .NET Framework can be assessed and rewritten
to run on modern .NET Core 6+. Rather than a line-for-line rewrite, we analyse the business
logic embedded in the old code and re-implement it using current patterns and tooling —
giving you an application that behaves the same way but is maintainable, testable, and
ready for the next decade.
- VB6 and classic ASP to ASP.NET Core
- .NET Framework to .NET 6, 8, or later
- Web Forms to MVC or Razor Pages
- Monolithic applications decomposed into services
Cloud migration
On-premises applications that run on ageing Windows Server infrastructure can be
lifted, re-platformed, or fully rebuilt to run in Azure — reducing hardware costs,
improving availability, and bringing them under a CI/CD deployment pipeline so
future changes are delivered safely and quickly.
Wrapping legacy systems with modern APIs
Where a full rewrite is not practical in the short term, we can wrap an existing
legacy system with a modern REST API layer. This allows new applications, mobile
clients, or trading partners to consume data from the old system in a controlled
way — buying time for a phased replacement without blocking progress elsewhere.
